Over
the last ten years, Neon Rio has produced documentaries, news-reports,
docu-dramas and cultural festivals. all of which have shown Brazil's
image abroad. the subject matter of the documentaries vary from
cultural aspects including art, music, environment, anthropology,
religion and education to controversial themes such as aids, urban
violence and social conflicts.
Brasil
com Z is a foreigner's view of Brazil seen through the eyes of diffrent
cultures made by producers from developed countries. this festival
was first produced in 1985 and repeated in 1989. It aroused much
interest, from the netional and international press and was a great
public success.
In
1995 we intend to add to the festival an exhibition of photos, posters,
books and news-clips. We will also organize a debate with foreign
producers, Brazilian journalists, intelectuals and members of the
Brazilian foreign office and the Brazilian government using the
theme: Brazil's image abroad.
Brasil
com Z aims to expand tha cinematographic and television markets,
awaken new perspectives for Brazilian documentaries, as well as
giving the public an idea of what kind of information is shown abroad.
It also hopes to promote cultural interactions, co-productions and
an exchange of information and know-how between Brazil and the participating
countries. Public: producers, directors, film and TV technicians
unions, diplomats, journalists, intellectuals, teachers, researchers
and students.

com Z is a non-profit cultural event that will give Brazilians an
idea of how Brazil is seen by foreigners.
Locations:
Centro Cultural Banco do Brasil in Rio de Janeiro, from January
10-15 1995; and Museu da Imagem e do Som, in São Paulo, from
January 24-29 1995.
